    11. Make the most of interest rates on savings accounts.

    11.

Make the most of savings accounts, don't just sit with your money in a bank account but chase the best interests as I say on the Savings section: Compare the best savings account rates, highest interest rate on instant access and term deposits do the ditch and switch, ditch any bad interest rate savings accounts and change to ones that offer the higher rates.

    12. Use comparison sites for your energy bills, you can save a lot!

    12.

Use a comparison site for energy - electricity and gas, there are a few listed on here: Compare Electricity & Gas prices online, best deals thanks to Go Switch! check your bills and put in the info about how much energy you use and you can often find a better deal, I've done this and now whenever a company rings me offering a good deal I let them know what I have and none ever beat them, this is all due to using price comparison sites!

    13. Do a blind taste test with supermarket own brand labels.

    13.
Do a blind taste test on supermarket own brand labels. Test your partner with their favourite products and the supermarket's own brand version of the same things, make sure you test Woolworths Select: Woolworths - Woolworths Select - Coles Smart Buy: Coles | Products | Our Brands | Coles Smart Buy - IGA Black and Gold: IGA Supermarkets - Independent Grocers of Australia | Black and Gold - I miss Jewel No Name, that was my favourite of the cheap brands. It had the coolest name.

So try the cheaper brands, see if they're something you like and that they compare well with the more expensive branded companies, this can save you a decent amount each week.

When I worked in a supermarket I noticed that a lot of the own brand products came on the same pallet as the branded products and seemed to come from the same supplier. So make sure you give it a go and try to save!

Also check the ALDI specials: ALDI - special buys

    14. Work with the specials that Super markets offer.

    14.
You can usually prepare a meal by getting meat/veg and sauce/kits that are on special for the week.

Also when I buy meat, go through and find the lightest packet. You still get the taste/flavour but can save a few dollars also.

If you do have to take your kids to the shops maybe give them two dollars each, this will teach them budgeting.
As you've given them the incentive they want and its up to them to either pool the money together or work out what they want for the amount they have.

Lunch to work idea is great, ham, cheese and pickle relish always a winner for me and quick to do!

Make a big stew/soup and freeze the excess in serving containers, always great after a long cold day where little effort is required.

    15. Look for free wifi so you don't use your mobile phone's data package. Setup home wifi.

    15.
Use free wifi when out and about, and use your home wifi for portable devices. I hear of too many people burning through their mobile phone companies data package and then getting charged 50cents per MB once they go over!

1 youtube video can easily be 100mb
that means you will be charged $50 if you've gone over your data package allowance. Setting to use home wifi, or free wifi - I know westfield shopping centres offer it (you have to give your email address out so it's worth signing up for gmail, yahoo or livemail/hotmail for these things) and many cafes and pubs now, so there's great ways of getting free wifi on the move.

    16. Take your own food to the cinema, the price Hoyts and Village charge for food, lollies and drinks is so expensive I always go to the supermarket and get them cheaper. Sometimes 7-eleven can be cheaper than cinema but not all the time so a supermarket is best if you can go before the cinema.

    17. Use voucher code websites I use Australian Online Vouchers,Coupon Codes,Promo Codes & Deals - OzSavings.com to get discounts on things I'm planning on buying. Don't look at the OzSavings site and see "there's a good discount I must have it" as I did for a while. Now I just look at the sites I'm going to buy from annd then look to see if there's a money off voucher code. I just did one for OzSale in here: Voucher code for $10 off OzSale if you spend over $50. It was my first post for a voucher code

    18. change all your house lights to LED bulbs, this cuts down energy costs a lot. I know there expensive at the moment but there meant to last 25 years!! Think of your 60watt light bulbs these can now be dropped to 4watt or some down as low as 0.5watt. There not like energy saving lightbulbs that take a while to come on and use less energy than them!

Many shops sell them, if you can't find the ones your after try Jaycar Jaycar Electronics - Better. More Technical. they have a big range

    DEAL!!

    19. Don't always go for the cheapest as spending a bit more can get you a better deal. I like to use backpacker hostels when travelling however I noticed using sites like tripadvisor I could find better, higher quality hotels for less than the backpackers. Especially in areas of mass tourism in the off season like Gold Coast I stayed at the marriott gold coast for $10 more than the backpackers hostel and the room had 2 queensized beds, a spa bath and massive shower not shared shower rooms like loads of backpackers.

Cheapest isn't always the best DEAL!!
