I really like some of the Macpac gear however I have recently learned that a "waterproof zipper" is not truly waterproof when I recently found my phone swimming in one of the pockets in my Prohet jacket . Enough of the negatives, the hollyford jacket doesn't have the pretty looking zips and looks to have zips eith covered with a flap or uses internal pockets, either way it should make them close to 100% waterproof.
The Event fabric used inside the Macpac jackets is amazing, as I am a sweaty beast I find waterproof fabrics that are smooth tend to cling to sweaty skin, of all the jackets I looked at the Event fabric seemed the best(to me) it breathes well and really keeps the water out.
So enough from me here's the jacket, It is avaliable in both mens and womens designs-

Description Welcome the new benchmark for tramping/bushwalking jackets; the Hollyford. Made from eVent, the most breathable waterproof fabric on the market the Hollyford will keep you comfortable in the most abysmal weather conditions. In true Kiwi style the jacket is extra long and comes down to your lower thighs. Other key features include two hand pockets that can be used while carrying a large pack, an internal pocket that will take maps and is accessible from the outside and a hood designed to keep the weather out without obstructing your vision.
The Hollyford Jacket is made from heavy duty 3-layer eVent fabric (plain weave) with durable 3-layer eVent fabric (taslan dobby) detailing under the arms. Independent tests by the US Army's Soldier Systems Centre show that eVent fabrics transport moisture away from the body (commonly called 'breathability') up to 200% faster than any other waterproof breathable fabric on the market. Great Functionality, Lousy colour choices
First of all this is an AWESOME jacket for keeping out rain, without that boil in the bag result that comes with poor ventilation. Both my partner and I hd these jackets when we were caught in a serious weather bomb on the Greenstone - the numbers were impressive 300m in one day, 30mm per hour and lots of wind. At the end we were still dry inside, not over-heated (too much).
As a long-time MacPac customer (I have a pack that is 30+ years old for heaven's sake!) PLEASE PLEASE what stopped Macpac from making the Imperial Blue available for the men's jacket???? I ask this in each store I go into and I get a chorus of agreement from shoppers and staff. Get a grip MacPac, how hard is it to make a wider colour choice??????
