Our Review & Thoughts: 'Canon EOS M, is it really this GOOD?'
It was only a few days ago (early November) when we received our first shipment of the new Canon EOS M. We initially saw the pre production samples and the EOS M looked and felt great but we were unable to shoot on it. Canon kept saying the EOS M was going to be brilliant, they always say that. Finally we have had the chance to shoot and have a play, WOW! How good is this camera? It still feels great and shoots as well if not better then many DSLR cameras at twice this price. Using the EF-EOS M mount adaptor you have the option of using any existing EF or EF-S Canon lens you may already own. We knocked a few photos out with the 24-105 and 70-200 and again WOW! Quite simply, if you haven't already, it is time to enter to World of EOS and experience true photography.

Canon EOS M System Camera - The Overview
Inspired by EOS technology, Canon developed the new EOS M Digital Camera. Canon introduced the market to Full HD video capture with smooth, quiet continuous auto focus made possible by Movie Servo AF and STM lenses, advanced CMOS sensor technology, and the processing power of DIGIC 5. The EOS M Digital Camera leverages these key technologies to deliver high-quality moving and still images with creativity provided by Canon's extensive family of interchangeable lenses.
Canon EOS M System Camera - Full HD Movie Mode
For those looking to capture superb quality Full HD video, the Canon EOS M Digital Camera offers a number of advantages. Offering a large APS-C sized sensor, the camera is able to deliver shallow depth-of-field for achieving impressive cine-style results and the ability to capture clean, high-quality video, even under very low-light conditions.
With the optional Mount Adapter EF-EOS M, the camera is also compatible with Canonís extensive family of EF lenses for boundless creativity.
Canon EOS M System Camera - 18 Mega Pixel Sensor
The Canon EOS M Digital Camera features Canonís amazing 18.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor. Perfect for enlargements or for cropping detailed portions of the composition, the Canon EOS M Digital Cameraís sensor captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range. This APS-C size sensor creates an effective 1.6x field of view (compared to 35mm format).

Canon EOS M System Camera - Touch Screen LCD Display
The Canon EOS M Digital Camera comes with a newly engineered, Touch Screen 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor II. Using the same capacitive technology as todayís popular mobile devices, this new screen is touch-sensitive and delivers intuitive touch panel operation. Two finger touch gestures (multi-touch) can be used for zooming or changing images, menu and quick control settings can be accessed, and focus point and shutter release can be activated with the touch of a fingertip.

Canon EOS M System Camera - Compatible EF & EF-S Lenses
The Canon EOS M Digital Camera features a new style lens mount, called EF-M. Besides the dedicated EF-M lenses, the camera is compatible with the entire family of Canon EF and EF-S lenses by attaching the optional Mount Adapter EF-EOS M. When the adapter is used, the image quality of the lens is preserved, with no light loss or change to image stabilisation.
From fisheye to telephoto and everywhere in between, Canon offers the most comprehensive lens collection on the planet, with the finest optics and most advanced technologies for whatever application is at hand.

Wow that is a good price!!! I've been doing a bit of work for EOS Magazine and talking to guys that are using these they've put their 7D and 5D models away they love these so much. Would be a great travel camera, but don't know if I could use one for my work; I love my 1Ds MkIII due to it's weight for anti-shake help.

I'll try to dig out some samples for you over the next few weeks, they look pretty good, same sensors as top end cameras and a big viewing area for making slight adjustments with focus, generally the important thing is the lens. I see too many with 5D MkIII and a kit 18-55mm lens, better off having a 600D/1100D with a L series lens.
