I love star gazing - there was a decent scope posted on here recently: http://www.saverscene.com.au/bargain...e-sve-44%.html - but one thing that's helpful to look at the stars is to know what you're looking at... I don't have any Apple products, had a hideous ipod a few years back, never again, but from what I've heard this on a iPad is brilliant and it's FREE:

Very Nice App
by OrlandoWordsPlayer I have a casual interest in astronomy and work as a software developer but never took a course in astronomy just wanted to be able to point out constellations and planets to my friends and family. This app hits the spot, just hold the iPad up towards the sky let it use your location and it will let you know what you see in front of you!! The user interface is amazingly simple and very intuitive. I love how the constellation, and planet buttons work. A real handy star guide. I also love the pointer feature where it tells you the name of what you click on so you can look it up if needing/wanting more info.
