| Chain Reaction Cycles are pleased to welcome you to OZtober, a month-long celebration of cycling and triathlon in Australia! |
It’s been one of the busiest years for our events team and it’s always a thrill to meet our customers – old and new – but this will be the first time we’ve staged a month-long series Down Under, so we cannot wait.
Whether you’re lucky enough to have won free entry to one of our rides or bike competitions, or you plan on joining us anyway, we’re looking forward to seeing you there.
We’d like you to join us as we kick off summer with some fantastic opportunities, hang out with pro athletes, take part in our giveaways, join in some fun rides and make the most of a huge selection of great offers available to our Australian community.

OZtober 12th: Sam Hill ride out and chat
We kick things off on the rough stuff in Perth on 12th OZtober where we’re staging a two hour ride-out with Team CRC/Nukeproof rider Sam Hill (hopefully we’ll be able to keep up!).
Following the ride, we’ll chill out and have lunch before hosting a meet and greet session in association with the world’s best mountain biking website, Pinkbike.
During the evening at the Ocean Beach Hotel, Pinkbike will be interviewing Sam for a post-season roundup, and Sam will also answer questions put forward by CRC and Pinkbike readers.
Sam’s new Nukeproof Mega 275 will be on display too.
OZtober 20th: Spring Cycle
The Spring Cycle is Sydney’s landmark cycling event, attracting around 10,000 participants each year and allows riders of all ability to experience some of the city’s most iconic landmarks including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Mrs Macquarie’s Point.
There are three rides on offer:
• 100km Challenge ride – A ride that has the beauty of the City Ride and Classic Ride, but also provides a club vs. club peloton style ride at Olympic Park.
• 50km Classic ride - Enjoy all the iconic Sydney landmarks the City Ride has to offer and stretch your legs and pedal your way through the scenic backstreets and cycleways of Sydney’s inner west.
• 15km City ride - Join the thousands of families and first time riders as you make your way across the Harbour Bridge, through the streets of Sydney, Botanic Gardens and Pyrmont.
For more information go to the Spring Cycle website.
OZtober 24th: Darren Smith triathlon training day
Triathletes are in for a treat too during OZtober, with an opportunity to join top Australian and international triathlon coach Darren Smith for a day of training.
Darren Smith, who currently coaches Australian Emma Moffatt and British triathlete Jodie Stimpson, had a record six athletes from his world famous Dsquad competing in the London Olympic triathlon events including the Silver Medal winner, Sweden's Lisa Norden and the USA's Sarah Groff (4th place). He is also the first coach in the history of the sport to have the Gold and Silver Medallist overall in the ITU World Championship Series 2012.
The training will take place in Melbourne at both the Albert Park Indoor Sports Centre (APISC) and Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Center (MSAC), focussing on your swim, bike and run to shave some vital time off your next PB.
