    Oven not working :(

    Hi guys,

My oven hasn't been working for a while now so I thought I'd finally take some action as it's nearly Christmas!

And I would like to make a roast on Christmas day.

So basically I'm on a bit of a budget cos I work full-time for a not-for-profit organisation (charity, can't say the name for privacy/professional reasons) which I love, but I'm making well under the average Australian wage.

I'm also paying off my car and have a mortgage! That and combined with the fact that I have Asperger's Syndrome means I'd find it too stressful to take on a second job... Things are a bit tight.

My question is, would the issue be the element not working, as the fan, light + grill works? I assume this is the case, as I was talking to a colleague and she reckons it's only the element that's the problem. I'm hoping it's just that haha.

Also does anyone know of anywhere that I can get an element for a cheap price? I have a good friend whose partner is an electrician and he's gonna help me install it but I'd like to get some quotes. I live in Adelaide, SA.

    Thanks (=

Welcome to the website AyshahPearson sorry to hear of the troubles, I know about debt and have been there myself! Still digging my way out of some of it, but am finally starting to save I hope you manage too!

I've had a quick look around, without knowing model or the brand of the oven it's a bit hard to do a lot of research try here:

    Statewide Appliance Spares

This company have a lot of spares for popular brands: Save On Spares

and this one might be worth a look: Flagstaff Electrical Appliance Spares

A friend had a similar problem they rang the spare place and asked if they could recommended an electrician to check it and then fit the spare. That was in Melbourne and it all worked fine. My electric ring element on the stove top used to burn out a lot and a friend replaces it for me, they said my power fluctuated a lot and was a reason I was always blowing lightbulbs. Energy efficient LEDs have been better in my flat now.

    I hope that has helped.

    I love to shop!

Welcome to SaverScene AyshahPearson, I hope that the information that Shopaholic gave you is enough, if not feel free to let us know of any other problems.

Good luck with everything, totally know of being stuck without cash after a series of injuries and not being able to do the job I was trained for.

Great to see that you work for a charity. I've been applying for a few in the UK (where I am currently) for working with wildlife and the like, I hope to get a job in a reserve showing amateur photographers how to take better wild and landscape pictures.

    regards
    Gav.
