    good deal for beginners

I bought it last month and so far, satisfied with my choice because it was _delivered in just 4 days form WA to Sydney _sturdy build _ok for both terrestial and celestial gaze with the eyepiece come along, especially the moon and jupiter (not so clear due to light pollution). If you pocket is thick enough, it's a good idea to invest in the eyepieces with higher magnification.

    Description

In terms of astronomy, what can be more gratifying (especially to the newbie... and a relatively inexpensive telescope such as this one is perfect for the newbie) than actually seeing the rings of Saturn or the moons of Jupiter? We're hard pressed to think of an analogous thrill in other hobbies.

Designed for the first time buyer - Offering exceptional value, the Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ Reflector Telescope features a compact and portable design with ample optical performance to excite any newcomer to the world of amateur astronomy.

    Versatile and Powerful
If you're looking for a dual-purpose telescope appropriate for both terrestrial and celestial viewing, then the AstroMaster Series is for you. The AstroMaster 130 EQ, like all telescopes in this Celestron series, is capable of giving correct views of land and sky. It has a 650mm focal length and produces bright, clear images of the Moon and planets. As mentioned above, it's actually easy to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn with this fine instrument. Because of its larger aperture and light gathering ability, this Newtonian reflector telescope can also provide views of the brighter deep space objects like galaxies and nebulae.

    Both Capable and Well-Designed
The AstroMaster 130EQ is equipped with a permanently mounted StarPointer Finderscope that lets you keep track of the stars, and a German Equatorial Mount with Setting Circles helps you accurately locate and track sky objects. It features all glass optical elements, as well as smooth operating steel tripod mountings with manual motion controls. Coated optics offer enhanced image brightness and clarity.

Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ Reflector Telescope Reviews

Gets the kids out of the house!

Gets the kids out of the house (and out of my hair)! We bought this as a xmas present for our 2 kids. For the price we paid, we think the results are excellent (admittedly we aren't experts). Perfect for a young family.

I've actually been interested in a decent telescope that won't break the bank, I'd love to get one that could use a digital SLR.
