    BLACK MARKET DEAL Pinot Noir 2011

    RRP = $40 each
    70% = $12.00 each

    Total Purchase = $144 a 12 pk

    Why do we love this wine ?

    "Pssht... Mofo, word around the block is you're after some Mornington Pinot. Well, we just got this deal over the line and you'll really dig it. This is one of the shining gems from 2011."

    "We've known each other for a while, right? So you know that every single wine that we bring to you from the 'Fo goes through the most discriminating of palates. Our buyers are very hard to impress but they let their palates do the judging, not awards or word of mouth. Silky and dangerously drinkable, this one shows true Burgandian character - I heard them mutter 'uplifting notes of cherrry and earth'. This Pinot is a serious player, and you won't be disappointed. I can't say any more, or they might -"

    BLACK MARKET DEAL Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc 2012

    RRP = $25 each
    70% = $7.50 each

    Total Purchase = $90 a 12 pk

    Why do we love this wine ?

    This is elegance personified: a beautifully restrained Savvy, crafted by the experienced and loving hands of an outstanding, Margaret River family producer - it's one for anytime, anywhere and anyplace! For only $7.50, and free returns if you're not 100% satisfied, you've got nothing to lose. Literally.

    We can tell you:

    • This is an outstanding example of a Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc at the lowest price you've ever seen it!
    • Made by a well-established, small family-owned producer
    • The palate is fresh and grassy with cleansing minerality and impressive length and balance
    • It's almost too easy to drink and perfect for right now...as in, NOW!
    • As always, this is proper, labelled product from a premium producer
    • It's 70% off, when it's already ridiculously good value at full price

    We can't tell you:

    Anything else... we've been doing this for too long to give up our secrets.

    BLACK MARKET DEAL Syrah 2010

    RRP = $24 each
    70% = $7.20 each
    Total Purchase = $86.40 a 12 pk

    Why do we love this wine ?

    If you're looking for a tall, dark and handsome man, you probably shouldn't be shopping on Vinomofo. However, if you are after a delicious and spicy Syrah that's insanely priced at under $7.50 a pop, you my friend, have come to the right place.

    What I'm willing to share with you (and only you because we're friends...) is that this red was proudly crafted in NSW from a 5 Star Producer, it's won a gold medal at an undisclosed Australian Wine Show, Big Man Halliday gave it 91 points and it's wickedly delicious.

    All the cool kids are drinking cool climate Syrah, so are you cool enough?

    Why do we love this wine ?

    One of the most beautiful dessert wine styles we've ever tried. Everything in the right place, and anyone with any kind of sweet tooth should feel honoured to get some of this. At this price, they also should feel like all their Christmases have come at once.

    King Valley may not be be the first region you think of when you think of botrytis Riesling, and probably for good reason. It's risky business making botrytis Riesling - a fine balance of the right grapes, temperatuer, moisture, timing and the right fungal infection taking hold. If the wrong one gets in, it can wreak havoc on remaining grapes and make everything taste like, well, mould. Luckily, this was not even remotely the case here.

    Imagine an expression of the brilliant fineness of cool climate Riesling in such a high altitude region (fine, taught, mineral), the background tropical flavours amped up like turning them up to 10 on a studio mixing board, and then give that a tweak of the typical marmaladey unctuousness that botrytis brings with it. You end up with liquid gold.

    An amazing expression of this grape variety, at yet another mad price. These are half bottles of golden goodness, and you can have a dozen for only $70.80. There's dessert sorted for a little while.

    BLACK MARKET McLaren Vale Cabernet 2011

    RRP = $25
    70% = $7.50
    Total Purchase = $90 a 12 pk

    Why do we love this wine ?

    Holy smoke! We had to drag this deal over the line but Mofos we fought hard on your behalf and here it is in all its beauty, so savour it...
    This is a wine you know you've seen on the shelves, hell you may even have a few on your rack right now - it's a SIGNATURE red that satisfies even the most discerning of palates. This right here, is a benchmark Cabernet from a 5 red star producer that would grace any dinner table with its presence.
    A cooler year has transformed this Cab of McLaren Vale into a picture of elegance with cool dark black fruits, a hint of cassis and eucalypt and a load of savoury herbal notes, fine tannins and a lingering finish.

    This is one of those times when you need to place your trust in us and we promise when this little gem arrives on your doorstep you will NOT be disappointed! It's time to take a leap of faith...

    BLACK MARKET DEAL Nebbiolo 2009

    RRP = $35
    70% = $10.50
    Total Purchase = $126 a 12 pk

    Why do we love this wine ?

    Black Market has dared to take on the King of Piedmont in an epic battle, and there's only one triumphant winner... YOU.

    Nebber mind if you're yet to try Nebbiolo - yes, it's not as well-known as Aussie favourites like Shiraz and Cabernet but don't let that stop you, this is the varietal that makes the world-famous Barolo. The ever seductive Nebbiolo is as fickle to grow as Pinot Noir and fortunately for us, has appeared to have found its Aussie homeland in the Hilltops region if this 92pt beauty is anything to go by. Abound with a quartet of classic flavours - dark cherries, woodsmoke, violets and tar envelope the palate while a lift of spice teases you to pour another glass. Made by a boutique NSW producer celebrated for their cool climate wines, we only have a tiny number of cases available so you better get in quick.

    We wish we could tell you more but you know the drill...

    Don't ask, don't tell.

    BLACK MARKET DEAL Pinot 2011

    RRP = $32
    70% = $9.60
    Total Purchase = $115.20 a 12 pk

    Why do we love this wine ?

    The verdict is out. You Mofos LOVE your Pinot. It's funky, it's fresh and it's downright delicious. You asked, we listened. Here's a rare gem from a boutique winery, one of only 700 dozen made each year in the Yarra Valley, at a price that'll force you to replace your house red.
    Like we mentioned before, this Pinot is rare. Not close to extinction but definitely hard to find... Lucky for you, you're a Mofo and you will always get first dibs. Anyway, down to the nitty gritty... here's a red that will tick every box if you're after a seductive yet powerful wine for everyday quaffing. Though 2011 was a cooler year than 2010, it remains a wine of restraint and finesse. Lively, silky and full of depth, it's heavy on the berry and sings with a serving (or two!) of Roast Duck...
    It's predecessor scored an impressive 94pts from Halliday, and we think this is just as good. Don't be surprised if this sells out in a flash!

    BLACK MARKET DEAL Sauvignon Blanc 2013

    RRP = $22
    70% = $6.60
    Total Purchase = $79.20 a 12 pk

    Why do we love this wine ?

    "Psssh... oi you! Yeah you buddy. We heard you like the taste of great Kiwi Savvy...well, we have it on good authority here that we've got something that tastes very, very similar and is probably better quality - let's be honest, it's from the motherland. We can't tell you what it is, but this Savvy comes labelled and fully gen-u-wine - Who's the producer...? Well, trust us, we've been in the business for a while and this is the good stuff. They're boutique and it's all about the flavour in the bottle, but because the price is so good, you're not going to find out who the maker is until we drop it off to ya, kapish?".
    "Man you're killing me, you want more information? Okay, what I can tell you is that it's made by a new kid on the block in the streets of Mt Gambier, S.A. You heard of that place? Yeah, they're known for their killer cool climates and in the case of this Aussie Savvie - mamma mia, this is the King Pin, the Godfather... it has two gold medals to its name and finished numero uno at a recent Australian Wine Show. Our dealer Karel swears on his grave that this tastes like one of Marlborough's finest and for 3x times less the price, you'd be crazy not to buy it."

    BLACK MARKET DEAL Shiraz 2009

    RRP = $26
    70% = $10.80
    Total Purchase = $129.60 a 12 pk

    Why do we love this wine ?

    What better way to woo someone (on a budget) than with a classy bottle of red, fine dining at home and your sweetheart sitting right opposite you... stay fiscally intelligent, you romantic Mofo! Plus, it's the best Margaret River Shiraz Black Market Deal we've had on the 'Fo yet!
    What we can tell you is:

    • This beautiful red is from a single, dry-grown vineyard in the Southern reaches of Margaret River
    • This winery consistently produces 90+ point wines - consider this an unreviewed en primeur offering (first dibs for you!)
    • This is a classic, cool climate Shiraz with a dense, medium-bodied palate of mulberry, cassis, espresso, baking spice and intense red fruits
    • It's 70% off, when it's already ridonculous good value at full price

    We can't tell you:

    • That this is Elvis's favourite wine
    • That it's circumnavigated the globe in a hovercraft
    • That it was the first wine to reach the summit of Mt Everest
    • Or anything else silly like that
    • Oh, and we can't tell you the name of the producer (or we'd have to have you exterminated by grumpy puppies with death rays strapped to their collars)
